Module 4 – Spreadsheets

(Using Microsoft Excel 97 for Windows)

Saturday 19th June 9.30 - 12.30 and 1.30 - 4.30

Saturday 26th June 9.30 - 12.30 and 1.30 - 4.30

To pass this module, the applicant will show, using a spreadsheet package, that he or she can perform the following:

Create a spreadsheet - numbers, text and formulae.
Use the functions of a spreadsheet - totalling and/or averaging figures.
Open a spreadsheet file, make changes to it, add rows, calculate new values.
Print and save a spreadsheet.
Produce charts/graphs from spreadsheet figures to analyse the data.
Exam time: The participant is allowed 45 minutes to complete the examination
Pass mark: Examination pass mark is 90% for basic tasks and 50% for advanced tasks

The syllabus content in detail:

Open a spreadsheet file, make changes to it, add rows, calculate new values.
Insert rows and column.
Create a spreadsheet and enter data Numbers Text Formulae.
Format cells e.g. size, decimal points, and currency.
Format columns and rows.
Sort the spreadsheet.
Use the basic functions of a spreadsheet, such as Totalling and Averaging.
Print and save a spreadsheet.
Create a header and footer.
Use Help Functions.
Understand and use absolute and relative cell referencing in formulae.
Produce different types of charts and graphs from spreadsheet figures to analyse the data.
Retrieve graphs from disk.
Print graphs with titles and labels.
Move information between spreadsheets.
Work with more than one spreadsheet.
Use integrated software.
